Why did I wait so long to try this great tool? I've seen WordWeb around for a long time and I was never tempted to try it. Now that I've got WordWeb on my PC you should start seeing some improvement in my vocabulary. This program is a keeper.
WordWeb is a 6mb download and is packed in a typical Windows installer. When the program first starts, you get the option of running it as a desktop application or as a system tray application. If you choose the system tray option, the program will start every time Windows does so that it's always available.
To use WordWeb, all you have to do is highlight any text word and press CTRL-ALT-W on your keyboard. WordWeb senses this and immediately pops up to offer you the definition, nearest correct spellings, synonyms, antonyms and more.
WordWeb is a cut-down version of the WordWeb Pro that is free for personal use. It includes a comprehensive English thesaurus and dictionary, and can be used to look up words from within most programs. Features of the free version include:
Definitions and synonyms
Proper nouns
Related words
Pronunciations 140 000 root words
115 000 synonym sets
